i decided to do a year in review on the blog. and i'm so glad i did! looking back on 2012 brought back some great memories of all the little adventures we shared.
(just click below on "read more")
in january: we worked on decorating our newly purchased house, played in the snow, had one of the best dinner dates out on our back deck, and thought about how our lives would be different if we had never moved away from home.

in february: i got to throw ourselves a "warm up" house warming party, we road tripped to the nauvoo temple, i shared our love story, we went on a family winter bike ride, i baked a chocolate truffle cheesecake, tried to find fun places to walk the pups, discovered meyer lemons for the first time, and had a mini leap day photo shoot in front of our wallpapered wall.
in march: we finished decorating the house and i shared our home tour (my favorite rooms: the kitchen + craft room), husband became a certified air traffic controller, and we spent a weekend in chicago with friends.
in april: we ended up with matching "tats" after a bike ride, we both ran the black partridge 10k, had a lovely picnic in the park, i tried to be more creative with my blog posts, worked on my goal to start an herb garden, we hid a "traveling kayak" from each other to show our love - which i have not been able to find since the move, and we had a few more great dinner dates at home.
in may: i transferred offices to one only a mile from home, we spent a day off biking 25 miles, took snapshots of daily life, i made a loaf of husband's all time favorite rosemary bread, we joined some friends on a mini backpacking trip, and we started a little tradition of "tuesday adventures."
in june: we shared a recipe for grilled shrimp, said goodbye to some good friends with a going away party, enjoyed having our very own home, i made wildflower bouquets, shared a few ways we show our love for each other, and spent a day at chicago's beach. we also spent a couple weeks in alaska where we went backpacked 40 miles, spent time with family + friends, kayaked in homer, i took my sister-in-law's senior portraits, and i ran a marathon with my sister. see my alaska snapshots here.
in july: i turned 25, we camped out for the nauvoo pageant, we traded-in the land rover, and we spotted a sunflower field on our way to the temple.
in august: i shared our favorite grilled pizza recipe, we drove to chicago just to walk around for the day, and we celebrated our third wedding anniversary and temple sealing.
in september: garrison's transfer application was accepted and we made a trip to check out colorado, i shared a recipe for quinoa taco salads, and we got to play with my nephews,
in october: we got excited for fall activities, went on more bike rides, i planned a friend's s'more themed bridal shower, had our family pictures taken, sold our second vehicle, packed up lots of boxes, said goodbye to illinois and moved to colorado, but husband had to go back to illinois to work for the next three months.
in november: i explored a little and found ways to stay busy before getting a new job at the ski resort, garrison turned 26, and i found many ways to cook with fresh pumpkin.
in december: we reached the 1 year mark of home ownership, got to celebrate christmas early, went skiing, and i completed my goals for the year. i also made lots of new friends which has made living in colorado alone so much better.
here's to a new year full of lots of new adventures!

March and October look like they were pretty exciting!
Hey! I'm Brooke, from Alaska, too... crazy! Found your blog through Tracy Davis's.
Anyway, your year sounds like it was amazing and congratulations on your home! Can't wait till we are homeowners too :)
